Docks are a Terrible Idea

The Caloosahatchee River between the Midway and Cape Coral bridges is a large open body of water as much as 2 miles wide.  Jaycee Park is exposed to this open water through the entire eastern half of the compass.  Prevailing winds are easterly in this area. On just a breezy day the waves are too large to safely dock, disembark and board a boat.

Breezy Day at Jaycee Park

The intercoastal Waterway is just over 1/2 mile from the Jaycee Park shore and large vessels legally transit at up to 25 knots throwing wakes suitable for surfing.  The wakes arrive on shore minimally diminished with great potential for harm and damage.

The city will be responsible for damage, injury and dock repair in this boondoggle.

Get involved and let our city council know they are not thinking this through.
